The best tools to know your position in Google

Although we are in the holiday period I am spending a few days to complete a work commissioned by the Themis Foundation (Part of the World Tourism Organization) and I had to check the positioning of a website. My surprise was great when I found that some of the tools I normally use, no longer work or are paid now (and therefore not be able to use them in class with my students). So here's this article updating the list of tools that will help us to know our position in Google.

google Analytics

This is by far the best tool to know our position for certain key phrases. But it only works if three circumstances:

  1. Google Analytics have access to the web.
  2. Google Analytics is properly configured and connected to Google Webmasters (if you know how to do it here I'll explain: Connecting Google Analytics with Google Webmasters )
  3. Our SEO is well done and as we position for the key phrases (otherwise, Google Analytics will not tell the position of our website)

Find information about our position in: Google Analytics -> Purchase -> SEO -> Queries.

Unfortunately I do not, at work I should finish this holiday, access to Google Analytics website ... I must use other tools.

SERPS

For me this is one of the best tools today. In its free version it allows multiple searches and the results offered are useful as they can be segmented by country and by search engine.

Try it here: https://serps.com/tools/rank_checker

Google Position Checker tool

This is also a good tool for monitoring the position of a website in Google. 100% free. Even if you only indicates the position if you are among the top 300 search results ... but it is more than enough.

Try it here: https://www.searchenginegenie.com/google-rank-checker.html

NO RUSH

This used to be 100% free and my favorite tool. Now only it allows you to make a certain number of searches per day with the free version. In class it does not work because it detects multiple connections from the same IP (the university) and blocks searches.

In SEM RUSH we find our position if we are in the top 20 of Google for "Google organic results," plus another equally important for good SEO strategy information. You can also create a free project monitoring: SEM Rush -> Projects -> New Project.

Still a good tool.

Try it here: http://es.semrush.com/

New additions to the list

Here's this other form recommended by Marco through one of the comments of this article tool.

SEO BOOK: http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/rank-checker/ free tool that checks the position in Google and Bing.

Well, I hope this article has been helpful.

How to request removal of Google results

As you know, the Court of Justice of the European Union He has forced Google to remove the search results that violate the European Data Protection Regulations.

Thus, users can request that Google remove get results "Inadequate, irrelevant or no longer relevant or are excessive in relation to these purposes and the elapsed time".

For this Google has prepared an application form that the user must fill. Google This form asks the user's name, relationship to the person represents (if need be ... for example "spouse" or "attorney") and the URL of the content we want it to be removed. You can request removal of more than one URL on the same form.

You also need to attach a copy of ID card of the applicant (lest we request that our competition desindexen)

Google is committed to study each case and contact the webmaster who posted the information we want it to be removed, to inform you that this page is dexintexa.

If you want to see the form you have it: Form for withdrawal of Google search results

This form only works in the European Union.

I hope the link be useful to you.

How to create a company profile on Google+

The further 2013 Google harder use Google+ so it is increasingly important to know how it works and how we can get level performance digital marketing for businesses. This article will try how to create / manage a company profile on Google+.

First of all: to create a company profile on Google+ You need to have a user account Google (personal). As in the case of Facebook, you can not create a listing without a profile person.

Enter your profile and find a square icon indicating "Pages". You should be on the menu bar that will appear to the left of the profile. If the bar does not see "Pages", click on "More" to see more icons ... there you should find the button "Pages" and clicking on it, you should see the button "Create New Page". Clícalo to start.

As in the case of Facebook, there are different types of page:

  • The local business.
  • The product or brand.
  • The company or institution
  • The music group
  • ... And other types.

Each has its own features. Choose the one that suits your business (if you want users to perform "Check-in's" from their mobile phones, then select "Local Business".

To complete the worksheet, follow the instructions Google+.

Once the tab, you'll see it on the screen already created. Notice in the upper right corner, there you will see the logo of the company and that's an indication that you logineado as a company, not as an individual. To change this, just click next to you your logo and icon appear person tab.

Check all the data and fill in the missing.

Do not forget to link the URL you specified when filling the form with your company's website. To do this you must use Google Webmasters.

Also check the settings (click on the icon "gear" that appears to the right of the tab). From there you can change the notification settings and who are the administrators will manage this page. In this section you could also transfer ownership of the page if necessary.

From a profile person can manage several Google+ pages.

I hope this information will be useful.

Find out what has been the most searched on Google in 2012

In late December Google released its Google Zeitgeist 2012. In this list you will see more searches have been made in Spain, sorted by subject.

Of these there is something to learn. I particularly like to see related searches "how to do... ". These searches give me ideas to create content or to redirect my projects.

This year for example, I see that among the top searches of this type is:

  • how to make cupcakes
  • how to make pancakes
  • how to bechamel

... For nothing ... to continue my recipe blog :-) (www.cuinadecasa.com)

But I see that the most sought is a "How it works Twitter"... Perhaps this search deserves an article ... (and I will think this weekend)

I have already talked about this marketing technique on other occasions, is the Content Marketing and it consists of creating content in order to attract visitors to our website. Obviously they must be related to ours (this is why I go in the recipe to make bechamel in the cooking blog and not on marketing), but ultimately is to stick with what content is the basis of Márqueting :

  • We define what kind of target audience we are headed.
  • Knowing what interests them and what not.
  • If we can cover you analyze any of your needs with our services (or if we can adapt one to cover your needs)
  • Run the service.
  • Then dedicate ourselves to retain and develop customer.

For all this, Google publishes the list each year can be of much use. So here is the link again: Google Zeitgeist 2012

I hope you will inspire.

Google opens in Spain its movie rental service

Surprise this weekend: Youtube and watched entered a new feature, Youtube Movies. The movie rental service already operating in the US for a year, but here was not open.

The rental price of the films depends on their age and whether or not they are in high definition. The films are theatrical release in cost 3.99 euros and 4.99 euros standard definition high definition. The other movies cost 1.99 euros and 2.99 euros normal high.

The service works much like Film (Which is what I used so far): when you pay the movie, you have 30 days to see if you have not started yet, and once you start, you have 48 hours to see it (you can see it as many times as you want during these 48 hours [this is practical when there are staff who are home watching TV at various times]).

It seemed to me that it can only be paid through Google Wallet (Google service that competes with Pay Pal), the truth is that I have not finished the test transaction (today I do not have time to watch a movie) but only offered me the option of paying through their own tool (I hope this is not definitive because I usually use for all my Pay Pal payments).

We will have to see how this service works. Let's see if I have time next weekend and taste.

We talk to each other.

Google begins to give priority to businesses that use Google+

Today I saw for the first time tab Google+ prominent above the other results in a search performed on Google.

This case was searching the portal "getaway vacation" and to show the results, I appeared last post getaway vacation performed on your Google+ page at the top of the right column of the page (see image) just above the Adwords and framed by a square of 1 pixel.

[style_image width=”400″ height=”330″ image=”https://www.montsepenarroya.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/google+.jpg” align=”alignright” alt=”Google Plus” url=”https://www.montsepenarroya.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/google+.jpg” border=”yes” lightbox=”yes” fade=”yes”]

Lack little so that it meets the first year of Google+And just when we thought that this network was entering a state of catatonia, Google goes and gives a push to see if this takes off once.

The social network Google+ It was created in June 2011 but it was not until September 2011 that Google allowed the registration to everyone (except companies, who had to wait until November 2011, and except under 18 who had to wait to December 2011). Since then, there have been major changes and gradually (or at least this is my feeling) people have been forgetting this network and has remained focused on Facebook.

But it was clear that since Google's revenue comes from advertising, and Adwords now do not allow the same segmentation that Facebook, apart from the fact that the under 30 almost not they clickedSo this type of income they must have been falling day after day.

For my part, I was sure that at one time or another, Google would react and encourage the use of Google+ for companies, but I would not know how or when. Today I had the first proof that it is already doing ... and how has also been resolved.

So if from now on, the post published on pages Google+ Highlights will appear in Google searches to find the name of a company, it is clear that at company level should we use this type of promotion.

To see if this weekend I have a moment to create my business page.

Changes in the algorithm of Google - Adsense Farm Update

Adsense Farm UpdateThis week Google has surprised us with drastic changes in its algorithm.

Some changes in its algorithm, on a regular basis is something that Google has accustomed us. Every month, Google seeks to keep improving search results and will neutralize "shortcuts" that take some SEO, and refine the results. But this time, the change has been dramatic and as Google itself, affects 12% of the results of the search pages.

The purpose of the change is to lower the positioning of pages devoted to copy or add mass content of others, without contributing anything new, then include in your site a large number of ads Google or other affiliate programs.

The truth is that the network began to be flooded with pages whose sole purpose was to show ads (which on the other hand, the vast majority were from Google itself). In many cases these pages, original content, and riddled with advertising, appeared in the top of the searches because their creators, aware of all SEO techniques, had managed to make it so. In English this kind of page is called "Adsense farm". Hence this is the algorithm update has popularly dubbed the "Adsense Farm Update”.

According to Google, its engineers have been working for over a year to find a way to neutralize the strength of these web pages, and it seems that with the new algorithm lon has achieved ... The question that arises now is how exactly has been modified the algorithm and what Google is taking into account when determining whether a site has original content or not.

Compare indexes created from scanning pages is already what he was doing at the moment when discern what was considered duplicate content (and punishable) and what not. But when one copy only part of a page, he included in his, and fill the rest with ads, is something that is not detectable from the simple comparison of indices simply why the word list that includes the page is different and original about that you copied. So Google has had to find another way to do it.

In any case, we are not doing these practices can be calm because this change should not adversely affect, if not the opposite. Our websites should gain positions on the search results pages.

Hopefully a few days, see if someone manages to decipher the change and discovered exactly what it is.

The official announcement of the change in the Google algorithm we can read in your blog notifications: Adsense Farm Update.

Google Public Data - Displays all data types

Google Public Data is a Google service that aims to get statistical data are best interpreted by users. For it offers researchers, journalists and the general public application which generates interactive graphics that facilitate data interpretation.

Graphics can be embedded on web pages and are hosted on Google servers (identical to Youtube, but with graphics). In addition, public graphs are updated automatically, so when embedding of one of these graphics on our website, data is updated as the owner of these updates its database.

This link can be found all kinds of data: Google Public Data

The tool allows you to choose between different chart types (line, bar or bubbles), you can also be chosen the color and size of the variables, and the type of scale (linear or logarithmic) axis.

The chart below compares I show the arrival of tourists to different countries of the European Union (vertical axis) with the number of overnight stays (abscissa) ... but can be any combination of data.

Note: We can see another application of the same technology, but this time used by the Generalitat de Catalunya to graphically show the evolution of the Catalan population. The graph compares the total Catalan population to the number of residents born abroad. See: graphic Idescat. For each of the populations it is necessary to put the cursor over the ball (the data eye. 51.6% of the population of Castelló d'Ampuries born abroad ... I had no idea)

How do you know which browser is most popular in a country?

In classes and conferences dedicated to International Digital Marketing There are always those who ask me how to get useful to perform Search Engine Marketing in remote countries data.

My answer is always that when someone meets the need to know which search engines dominate in each country, its evolution over the years and the percentage of searches performed on them, we can find it on this website: GS Statcounter.

For example, did you know the following?

  • Globally, the last month, Google dominates 90% of searches: Searches worldwide
  • The last two months, Bing (the new MSN search engine) is catching up with Yahoo, which is losing market share in favor of the latter and also in favor of Google: Yahoo Bing reaching
  • Google rampaging in Spain with 97%: Google rampaging in Spain
  • In Andorra, the most used search engine is Google (with 96%) but Bing has surpassed Yahoo for 4 months: Andorran also use Bing
  • Google is also in Cuba who destroys searches (97% this month): Cubans are doing Google
  • In Russia, a local search engine has almost the same market share Google. It is Yandex, created in 1997 and for years was the number one search engine in the Russian Federation: Compidiendo with Google Yandex in Russia
  • In China, local search engine Baidu searches sweeps also an unrelenting pace with last year: Baidu Sweeps China. Google does nothing to lose market share in this country. It is not therefore surprising that Google Tomase 2% stake in Baidu when it went public in 2005 ... but now that the war is serious, Google has sold its stake Baidu (earning more than $ 50 million from the sale) and decided to go for it.
  • In Hong Kong, Yahoo is ahead of Google, and Baidu does not eat a donut: Yahoo beats Google in Hong Kong
  • In Japan, Google and Yahoo are not so far apart, though Google dominates the market: Google and Yahoo in Japan

So if we need information on search engines or browsers, operating systems, mobile phones, etc. in GS Statcounter we can find interesting information for international digital marketing conditions.

With this information we can use different actions Search Engine Optimization to a particular country or a particular language, and advertising campaigns in search engines (SEM) without having to rely forever on Google and its network.

I hope this information will be useful.

Adwords and Adsense Google now also on the mobile phone

I just read that Google is testing AdSense for mobile applications, designed to be read from iPhones and from phones that use Android.

Until now, you could only hire Adwords searches on Google from mobile devices, but not Adsense (Google ads on web pages that belong to the Google content network). It seems that this will change.

In the video I show below these lines we can see one of the developers of software for advanced mobile phone, talking about how wonderful it will be able to insert ads into their applications.

The truth is that I feel a little divided about it. On the one hand, I am delighted that software developers and content for mobile phones will have a good way to monetize their applications, which hopefully result in offering free content to the user community. On the other hand, I feel bad that mobile browsing becomes an obstacle to try to move avoiding advertising ...
