Last week I had the pleasure of teaching a session on Generative Artificial Intelligence applied to SEO in the Master in Search Engines at UPF.
In our session, we covered how to choose keyword phrases, I explained how to create optimized, personalized, high-quality content, and finally we looked at how to create a link building strategy with the help of ChatGPT or of Gemini.
Generative AI is not just a future promise; it is a reality that is reshaping today’s SEO strategies. At one time or another, students always ask me “How can Artificial Intelligence help you in an SEO strategy?”. Below I summarize what I explained.
Choosing keywords with AI
Using ChatGPT to develop a keyword research strategy can be incredibly effective and efficient. Here are a few ways you can leverage AI for this crucial SEO task. Don’t forget to complement AI-generated suggestions with your own analysis and specialized SEO tools to get accurate and up-to-date data.
- Generating Keyword Ideas: Ask ChatGPT to help you generate a list of potential keywords based on a central topic. Provide a context or a specific topic, and the model can offer a number of relevant suggestions.
- Grouping of Keywords: Once you have a list of keywords, ChatGPT can help you organize them into categories or topics, which is useful for thematic content creation and landing page strategy.
- Generation of Related QuestionsQuestions are an important part of keyword research, especially for capturing traffic from question-based searches. ChatGPT can generate relevant questions your audience might be asking around a specific topic.
- User Intent Analysis: You can use ChatGPT to explore and define the intent behind certain keywords or phrases, which is crucial to creating content that meets your audience’s search needs. It’s also interesting to organize them by which part of the sales funnel they bring traffic to.
- Competitive Keyword Analysis: While ChatGPT can't do real-time analysis, it can offer advice on how to perform competitive keyword analysis and what to look for in your competitors' content. SEMRush It will also help you analyze your competitors' keywords.
- Analyze the words that already bring you traffic: Use ChatGPT to analyze the list of keywords that are already bringing you traffic right now (download it from Google Search Console). If you use ChatGPT4 attach the excel, if you use Gemini or ChatGPT3.5 cut and paste the list of words.
Creating and optimizing content with AI
Both ChatGPT and Gemini are generative artificial intelligences, this means that they
They are specifically created to generate content from a specific context, so they are ideal for Content Marketing.
- Creating Titles and Meta Descriptions: Based on the selected keywords, ChatGPT can help you write attractive titles and optimized meta descriptions that improve CTR in search results.
- Optimizing Existing Content: Ask for suggestions on how to improve existing content with additional keywords or how to refocus sections for better SEO optimization.
- Creating articles for your blog: I don't recommend having an AI create the content of an article, but I do often ask ChatGPT to outline what I want to talk about. If you're in a hurry, create an article based on 3 or 4 prompts. At least that way it won't look so robotic.
Creating a link building strategy with AI
Almost 30% of Google's algorithm is based on determining whether people recommend you. So getting links from third-party websites that are trustworthy, that recommend your content and that have a certain authority should be a priority. When I explain in an SEO class how to do a Link Building Strategy, I always recommend reading this article by Neil Patel: https://neilpatel.com/es/blog/que-es-linkbuilding-13-estrategias-ara-profesionales-de-marketing/ . Patel explains it very well,
And reading the article you will see that it is not easy to do so, hence if AI can help us, we will make the most of it.
- Ideating Compelling Content for Links: Ask ChatGPT for content ideas that are naturally likely to attract links. This can include original research, infographics, detailed guides, or resource listings.
- Customized Outreach Strategies: ChatGPT can help you craft customized outreach messages for website owners, bloggers, and influencers, thus increasing your chances of getting quality links.
- Generating Ideas for Guest Blogging: Ask for suggestions for guest post topics that are not only relevant to your niche, but also offer value to the host site's audience, improving your chances of being accepted. They may also give you a list of sites that will accept your articles (although sometimes they make up the websites, so keep an eye out!)
- Creating Link Baiting Campaigns: ChatGPT can help you plan campaigns that naturally attract links to your site, such as innovative product launches, events, or exclusive research publications.
- Improvements to the Resources Page: For sites that offer resource pages, ChatGPT may suggest additional content or resources that make your page more valuable and linkable.
- Strategies to recover broken links: Get tips on how to identify and contact website owners with broken links, offering your content as a viable replacement. This may seem like a pipe dream, but sometimes it works.
- Developing Relationships for Link Building: ChatGPT can offer you strategies to build and maintain relationships with bloggers, publishers, and other website owners, which can facilitate future link opportunities.
In summary
You have already seen that both ChatGPT and Gemini are two AIs that can help you with your SEO strategy. I hope that this article has been of interest to you and that it has surprised you with some use that you had not thought of. In addition to all of the above, you can ask Gemini about algorithm updates and it will also tell you about them and help you adapt your website to the changes that have occurred.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, do not forget that natural intelligence is better than artificial intelligence, so you must make the decisions, AI is just a tool.
