Contents of this article

Google Public Data Google Analytics is a service that aims to make statistical data more easily understood by users. To do this, it makes available to researchers, journalists and the general public its application that generates interactive graphics that facilitate the interpretation of data.

Charts can be embedded in web pages and are hosted on Google servers (it's identical to Youtube, but with graphs). In addition, public graphs are automatically updated, so when we embed one of these graphs in our website, the data is updated as the owner of the graph updates their database.

In this link you can find all kinds of data: Google Public Data

The tool allows you to choose between different types of graph (linear, bar or bubble), you can also choose the color and size of the variables, as well as the type of scale of the axes (linear or logarithmic).

The graph below compares the arrival of tourists to different countries of the European Union (ordinate axis) with the number of overnight stays (abscissa axis)… but any type of data combination can be made.

Note: We can see another application of this same technology, but this time used by the Generalitat de Catalunya to graphically show the evolution of the Catalan population. The graph compares the total Catalan population with the number of residents born abroad. See: Idescat graphicTo see each of the towns, you need to place the cursor over the ball (note: 51.6% of the population of Castelló d'Ampuries was born abroad... I had no idea.)
