Find out what was the most searched for on Google in 2012

Contents of this article

At the end of December Google published its Google Zeitgeist of 2012. In this list you can see the searches that have been carried out the most in Spain, sorted by topic.

There is something to learn from all of them. I particularly like to see searches related to “how to do…” These searches give me ideas for creating content or reorienting my projects.

This year, for example, I see that among the top searches of this type, there is:

  • how to make cupcakes
  • how to make pancakes
  • how to make bechamel

… well, nothing… to continue with my recipe blog 🙂 (www.cuinadecasa.com)

But I see that the most sought after is a “How Twitter Works“… perhaps this search deserves an article… (I’ll think about it this weekend)

I have already talked about this marketing technique on other occasions, it is about Content Marketing and it consists of creating content with the aim of attracting visitors to our website. Obviously, it must be content related to our own (this is the reason why I will include the recipe for making bechamel in the cooking blog and not in the marketing one), but ultimately it is about continuing with what is the basis of marketing:

  • Define what type of target audience we are addressing.
  • Know what interests them and what doesn't.
  • Analyze whether we can cover any of your needs with our services (or if we can adapt any of them to meet your needs)
  • Run the service.
  • To then dedicate ourselves to building customer loyalty and development.

For all this, the list that Google publishes every year can be very useful. So here is the link again: Google Zeitgeist of 2012

I hope it inspires you.
