If you have always noticed that under the light of the stars and the moon you could see twice as far as other people… if when others were bewitched by some young girl, you remained completely immune… if you always find suitable doors where others only see walls… and you have always known that you do not need to sleep eight hours… do not doubt it, elven blood runs through your veins.
Wanting to try out the new program download interface as well… and, why not, update my WinAmp, I decided to download the new version of this sound player… And thank goodness I did, the discovery was of a major calibre!
On the one hand, WinAmp itself is infinitely better than the previous version. By default it includes 2 skins, the classic one in orange and black and a much more modern and carefully designed version, in grey and blue. As for features, it includes by default automatic lists of the songs we listen to most, those we have listened to most recently and a long etc. of other variants. But the most spectacular thing is the inclusion in the same WinAmp interface of television stations and radio stations.
And it is among the radio stations where the pearl of my discoveries is found: Radio Rivendell, a radio station that only plays New Age music, chosen among the best of the genre and with origins as varied as soundtracks from films such as Braveheart, The Mission, Dune, Pearl Harbor, Gladiator, The Lord of the Rings and many other titles originating from fantasy and science fiction cinema, as well as soundtracks from video games such as Warcraft III, Neverwinter Nights or Morrowind.
But the best thing of all is that you discover that you are not alone, that there are more people like you who listen to this type of music, who are fascinated by tastes and aesthetics that are completely different from those of the rest of us. From WinAmp itself you can see how many listeners are connected to the station at that very moment.
The station has been online for a year, and as stated on their website Radio Rivendell, their music is intended to be used as background music for role-playing games. There are no announcers or interruptions. Most of the music is instrumental.
It's just great.
