I don't usually write about personal topics, but this time I'm going to make an exception.
This is a video of my son Jaume bungee jumping. Jaume is currently doing a one-year internship in Cape Town, South Africa, and occasionally takes trips to get to know the country better.
Last week, he and some classmates went on a hike along the route called "Garden Route«One of the stops was at the highest bridge in the world (which I have no idea what it's called), but where they have an adventure tourism attraction that involves jumping off the bridge tied to a rubber band.
From the point of view of tourist activity, it is interesting to note how the company that manages the activity also films and edits the video that then allows the experience to be recreated. In this way, users can upload it to their websites. Youtube, include it in your blog and that the mothers of the users also include it in their blog, which contributes to giving viral diffusion to the tourist activity.
The video is provided at the attraction itself (after payment [I don't know how many Rands my son paid, I'll ask him]). So this video is both a source of income and a marketing tool… a good example of a promotional action for Tourism 2.0.
