New technologies in the field of performing arts

Contents of this article

Last Wednesday, November 18, I had the pleasure of participating as a speaker at the Symposium "New technologies in the field of performing arts» organized by Cover and CIATRE, with the aim of helping theatre companies, and in general all companies related to the performing arts, in their online communication.

The day began with a very interesting presentation by Jordi Sellas entitled "New Generation Cultural Marketing«Among many other things, he explained to us how Cultural Marketing is a Marketing of Experiences and how this represents a competitive advantage and that, therefore, we should focus communication on transmitting that it is a «positive and live experience», something that is increasingly rare in this world full of virtual experiences.

After setting the bar very high both in the quality of the presentation and the speaker, it was my turn. My presentation was entitled "The 10 most common mistakes in online communication for companies in the world of performing arts«. To make this presentation, I previously analyzed the web pages of about twenty attendees and in my presentation I listed the communication errors they were making (although I tried to use the pages more like best practice, (which are examples of bad practice). Some of these errors include, for example, not taking into account who the target audience of the page is, using inappropriate technology to create web pages, not taking into account the potential of web 2.0 in their communications, etc.

Attached below these lines is the power point that I used to illustrate the presentation.

After my presentation, we took a break for lunch and in the afternoon we resumed the day with a session given by Daniel Olivares, in which he explained the basis of converting visits to users.

The day ended with Georgina Cisquella, an excellent communicator with extensive experience in cultural communication, who gave us a very interesting presentation entitled "Theatre, Internet and Media", where he showed us the latest trends in communication. For me, it was truly a source of inspiration.

From these lines I can only thank both aPortada and CIATRE for inviting me to participate in these conferences and congratulate them for the organization of the event.
