The registration period has now opened. WordPress Corporate Website Creation Course which will take place at the headquarters of the Barcelona Global Business School, in Barcelona. The course is 12 hours long and will be held on the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th of July, in the afternoon (from 4pm to 8pm).
The objective of this course is for the student to leave class with a finished and functional 100% corporate website. Even with the content created. We will also create e-commerce stores, provided that WordPress is used as a content manager.
To achieve this goal, this course is only open to students who attend class with WordPress installed on their domain and know how it works at a basic level (distinguishing between pages and posts and knowing how content is published in general).
There will be no discussion of software installation. We will only discuss what plugins we need to turn a basic installation into a corporate website, what a “who we are” section should look like, a “what we do” section, a contact form, a product catalogue, an image gallery, a “where we are” section, how to include other content on the website, how to install professional templates (students can bring their own templates or buy them online while attending class). We will also see how to create a landing page for an advertising campaign.
We will also see how to create a multilingual site, how to install Google Analytics codes, how to register it with Google Webmasters, what metrics we should follow, etc.
During the class, each student will be personally advised on the particularities of each website and will work both individually and in groups. There will be 2 teachers, Helena Casa and myself, and together we will move forward in the creation of each one's website.
As I mentioned, the goal is to leave there with the website done, so it's about investing these 4 afternoons in getting out of the office and the daily routine of each person, to concentrate on the website.
If you would like to attend but don't know how to get started with WordPress, you still have time. I recommend the following:
1) Buy a domain name at www.cdmon.com (if you already have it, you can skip this step).
2) Hire a hosting that already has WordPress installed. You can do this at www.cdmon.com, hiring Junior hosting https://www.cdmon.com/cas/hosting/alojamiento-web/ (5 euros per month). If you just want to try it out, you can sign up for a monthly subscription. In the hosting control panel you will see that you have WordPress pre-installed, activate it and that's it (there is no additional cost).
3) Practice using WordPress at home, create a page, create a listing, and generally play around a bit so that when the advanced class starts, you know how the basics work and can focus on turning the stock installation into a good website.
4) If you want to go a little further, look at the free templates that you will find on WordPress.org and also the paid ones that you will find on www.themeforest.netIf you find a template you like, download it to your computer and upload it to your WordPress.
Note about CDMon: I recommend this company because they are very friendly on the phone and their hosting has WordPress pre-installed. I have no affiliation with them.
The course is organized by the Barcelona Global Business School and is taught at its facilities Montevideo street 31, Barcelona.
The course costs 350 euros and places are limited to 20 people. My students from the UAB on the Basic WordPress course have a 20% discount. If you are one of them, speak to BGB and let them know.
If you wish to register, you can do so here http://bgb-school.com/inscripcion-al-curso-barcelona-global-business-school-of-management/
See you in Barcelona.
A big hug

It's a shame I can't be on the course, I won't be in Barcelona this week. I know a bit about WordPress and web development, but I'd like to go a little deeper.
For those of you who have the opportunity, I recommend going. Montse is a great teacher.
Thanks Javier 🙂
