Julieta died last Friday in a car accident in Llardecans (Segrià region, Lleida). She was 59 years old.
His death leaves a great void in the cultural world, and also in my heart.
I met Julieta when she invited me to give a lecture at the Lleida Fira de Teatre de Titelles (of which she was the director) two years ago. At that time I was already impressed by her vitality and her way of working, enthusiastic and completely dedicated to others. An extraordinary woman, out of the ordinary. With a personality and a way of being that leaves a mark on the heart of anyone who crosses paths with her. I was no exception. We continued to see each other in the months that followed our meeting, and every time I have been in Lleida I have stopped by the Centre de Titelles to say hello.
She, her husband and her team at the Centre have been doing a huge amount of work to promote this art and to professionalise it. Every corner of the former Convent of Saint Therese (the current site of the Centre de Titelles) bears her mark. Each small project of the many carried out there is a part of her. Continuing her legacy will be hard.
My deepest condolences to her husband and family.
A big hug.
